Hello, my name is Julia Robinson and I am the English language development teacher here at Rocky. This means I work with all students that learned any other language besides English as their first language. I lived two years in a third world country that does not speak English, so I experienced the struggles and discomforts of not being able to communicate in the country's native language, much like the students and families from other countries experience here.
This is my first year at Rocky Mountain High School, and I am excited to be a part of the team! Although this is my first year at Rocky, I spent my first year teaching at a middle school in Greeley, Colorado and my second and third years teaching in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. I received my bachelors degree in English with a concentration in Education from Colorado State University and my masters degree in culturally and linguistically diverse education from university of Northern Colorado.
I currently teach ELD 3, ELD 4, mind center, and support students in their mainstream classes. I have a passion for teaching students about various cultures and being accepting of all backgrounds and beliefs. I believe that worldly students are the most prepared for post high school life. I integrate diverse literature, current events, and imperative reading and writing strategies into my curriculum.
My interests and hobbies include traveling, learning about new cultures and languages, anything involving adventure or a new experience, hiking, reading, spending time with my family and friends, exercising, and playing with my dogs.
