About Me
Short Personal Description:

I am a native of Fort Collins and a former Lobo! I have worked with Spanish-speakers for over 20 years, traveled to various countries, and lived in Panama.  I have two daughters--Malia, who is 12, and Nadia who is 6. I am passionate about language and culture, but more importantly about working with high school students. You all are amazing and I love what I do. So grateful to be teaching at Rocky! It's an amazing place to be.

Educational and Professional Background:

After graduating from Rocky in 1996, I completed my degree in Spanish from Metropolitan State University. After college, I lived in Panama for 7 months and then moved to Orlando, Florida where I started my teaching career. This is my 16th year teaching Spanish and my 5th year at Rocky. Prior to Rocky I taught at Boltz Middle School for 7 years. I hold a master's degree in BrainSMART Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University, an incredible program that has greatly influenced my practice. I also have training and certifications in Comprehensible Language Instruction, Second-language Learning, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Kagan Structures, IB, Math Navigator, and AVID.

Courses currently teaching at Rocky and previous courses taught at Rocky:
  • 1st Semester: Spanish 2 & 3
  • 2nd Semester: Spanish 1 & 4

Have also previously taught at other schools: Spanish for Heritage Speakers, WL Explorations, ELA, Math Navigator, Journalism

What does the Lobo Way mean to me?:

The Lobo way means high achievement through hard-work and dedication, always showing kindness, compassion, and respect to others, and being a team player with a positive attitude. We are a family and we take care of and support each other. I firmly believe that every student and staff member has something amazing to offer this world, and it is our job, both as fellow students and teachers, to help each other bring these assets to light.

Interest & Hobbies:

I especially enjoy traveling, experiencing new cultures, and making new connections. I believe in the power of wellness, and spend time exercising, running, dancing, and just getting outdoors. Volleyball is my all-time favorite sport, followed by basketball. I love a good conversation, a good cup of coffee, and a good book. More than anything, I enjoy playing with my two girls, and spending quality time with my dear friends and family.

Honors & Awards:

Nominated for New Teacher of The Year (2007)
